Ute Patel-Mißfeldt and Kaiser-Porzellan

One of Kaiser's distinguished designers is Ute Patel-Mißfeldt. Born on New Year's Eve, in Bremerhaven, Germany, Ms. Patel-Mißfeldt is an artist in body and soul. Besides her profession as an artist, she is actively involved in humanitarian causes. She works generously with her husband, an Indian doctor, to help the people of India. Ms. Patel-Mißfeldt's talent was evident very early on --- "from the cradle". She began her career as a watercolorist but has expanded her repertoire to include caricatures, book illustrations, and both costume and dress design. She has shared her expertise in exhibitions, books, and lectures throughout the world. In artistic style she sees herself as "an Art Nouveau woman through and through" --- an admirer of Erté and Klimt. She skillfully translates this German version of the Art Nouveau movement into contemporary designs. The ornamental plants and flowing lines of Art Nouveau design are to be found throughout her work. At Kaiser, Ms. Patel-Mißfeldt brings her talents to the decoration of fine porcelain. Although glowing silk --- the queen of fibers --- is her primary medium, the challenge of working with porcelain's "white gold" inspires her. Ute Patel-Mißfeldt's "Mohngarten, rot" decoration on choice Kaiser porcelain captures the essence of the Art Nouveau's esthetic in a refreshingly modern interpretation.
